There are a lot of talented artists in
East Tennessee known for their landscapes, mountains, and flowers.
However, this artist will give you the impression that she "ain't
from around here." From her version of the world, you will
find beautiful trees created in pencil with wild sea oats as
leaves, trunks and lamps covered with her art, butterflies in pen
& ink, and wall sculptures. Barbara has designed fabric,
created wall sculptures that are hanging in offices and homes around the
country, built beautiful homes(she was a residential contractor for 12
years) and created such extraordinary designs in embroidery that Plaid
took a interest in her. I am still working on a bathing suit
design made out of these and I know people like me will have to have
one.
Growing up with her as a mother,
encouraged me to see the world differently. This isn't the first
time I have tried to present her work to others(I still have scars on
my ankles from wearing shoes that were too small while presenting her
portfolio to shop owners in Gatlinburg.) However,
this is the first time, I have had the knowledge and equipment to
